Georgia Perimeter College has launched a certificate program for students who are pursuing an Associate of Arts degree in Journalism/Professional Writing. The Certificate of Achievement is awarded to students who successfully complete three writing courses in the GPC Journalism and Professional Writing program. Students acquire skills, develop a portfolio and refine career goals necessary to pursuit careers in a wide variety of publishing, journalism and the mass media industries, says instructor Susan Hughes-Isley. The program kicked off with a ceremony at which eight students received their certificates and Michelle Burdo, morning news anchor with CBS Atlanta, as a special guest. Students awarded certificates were: Vaughn M. Barnett, Charlene S. Bowden, Niles B. Curry, Celeste M. Garcia, Sarah L. Holste, Stormy Kage, Johnathan M. Latimore and Porsha S. Pogue.

A total of 451 students have been named to the Dean’s List for summer term at Georgia Perimeter College. At the end of each semester, students who have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or better while carrying an academic load of nine semester credit hours or more of courses numbered 1000 or higher earn Dean's List status.
