Sounds, tastes and sights highlight International Education Week

Learn to say “hello” in Korean or Arabic. Sample the food of African lands, learn to write your name in Japanese calligraphy or take a salsa dancing lesson.

These experiences—and more—are part of the Nov. 16-21 International Education Week at Georgia Perimeter College.

Study abroad fairs, which allow students to study and receive college credit in another country, will be held on all campuses. Other highlights include a spotlight on “Holidays Around the World” on several campuses; a foreign language expo, where you can learn to be a “Language Diplomat” and say phrases in different languages; and an international music and culture expo on Decatur Campus.

GPC already has a very international flavor: More than 3,440 students representing 151 countries from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe attend the college.

Everyone also is encouraged to wear the colors or clothing representing their national heritage on Wednesday, Nov. 19, for “Represent your Country Day.”

Refreshments will be served at many of the events.

International Education Week is sponsored by the Center for International Education. It is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide and is a joint venture between the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education.
