GPC promotes Great American Smokeout
Have you quit yet?
On Thursday, Nov. 20, smokers across the nation will take part in the American Cancer Society Great American Smokeout. Many will use this day to quit smoking completely or make a plan to quit.
In 2011, approximately 1.5 million—or more than 20 percent of adult Georgians—smoked cigarettes, and about 315,000 adults in Georgia used smokeless tobacco. Every year, about 10,000 Georgia adults 35 years old and older die from tobacco-related illnesses.
Remember, using tobacco anywhere on any of Georgia Perimeter College’s campuses is now prohibited. For help in quitting, visit the GPC Tobacco Free website or the GPC Student Health Center.
In support of the Great American Smokeout, these links provide testimonials from GPC faculty and staff telling their stories about becoming tobacco free.
