GPC hosts first meeting on Georgia State consolidation

By Rebecca Rakoczy

Georgia Perimeter College hosted the first town hall meeting on its upcoming consolidation with Georgia State University on Tuesday, Jan. 13.  The University System of Georgia Board of Regents last week approved a plan to make the two colleges one institution.

The meeting, held at the GPC Dunwoody Campus, was streamed live to all GPC campuses, as well as to the Georgia State community.

Rob Watts, GPC interim president; Mark Becker, Georgia State University president; and Shelley Nickel, the USG vice chancellor for planning and implementation, fielded questions at the meeting. Both presidents and Nickel also answered questions at Georgia State University at a second town hall meeting later in the afternoon.

A report on the questions and answers covered at the GPC meeting will be posted shortly in the GPC Newsroom. To see a recorded version of the GPC event, visit /gpcnewsroomarchive/townhall
