The 2011 Georgia Perimeter College women’s soccer team achieved a near-perfect season, finishing with a 13-1-2 record. The two ties and single loss all went to the same opponent—Darton College, which finished second in the national tournament.

GPC sophomore forward Esther Anyanwu, who led the nation in scoring as a freshman in 2010, repeated as a first team All-American and was joined on that select team of 11 honorees by sophomore midfielder Linda Chukwuji.

Chukwuji, also named Player of the Year in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association, made the All-America second team last year. GPC’s Jaguars hosted the 2011 GCAA tournament.

“We’ve had two losses in two seasons,” said Jaguars head coach Bruno Kolonji. “It was a great year, not quite the year we wanted, but with what we had, it was a great year.” In 2010, the Jaguars finished third in the nation with a 22-1-2 record.

Anyanwu broke the GPC career scoring record with 169 points (74 goals and 21 assists) in her two seasons.

Joining her and Chukwuji on the all-conference first team was goalkeeper Marbel Egwuenu, who was also an All-American in 2010. The trio—all from Lagos, Nigeria—also made the 2011 all-tournament team.

GPC’s defensive line—Melissa Fishbein, Saba Rewald and Stephanie Iotova—made the 2011 all-conference second team.
