Faculty/Staff Kudos Jan. 2015
Theodora Johnson, director of GPC-Dunwoody Campus Student Life, is among seven individuals recognized as a 2014-15 Dunwoody Chamber of Commerce Teacher of the Year. The other recipients honored at a breakfast earlier this month are from Dunwoody elementary and secondary schools.
“As Theodora’s supervisor I cannot sing her praises loudly enough as she balances the call for meaningful co-curricular education with the rigors of academic study in an environment touching thousands of students of all ages and backgrounds,” says Frank Nash, dean of Student Services for Dunwoody.
This year marks the first for Georgia Perimeter College’s inclusion in the Chamber’s annual celebration of outstanding educators.
Brandi Meriwether, Health and Wellness coordinator on Dunwoody Campus, has been awarded the American Association of Blacks in Higher Education’s Leadership and Mentoring Institute Fellowship for 2015-17. A $2,000 scholarship is included. Meriwether attended the institute last summer and gained valuable knowledge and experience that will assist in her professional development and leadership in higher education.
Special kudos to the 80 ASK ME staff, faculty and student volunteers who wore their ASK ME buttons and smiles while welcoming and guiding new and returning students and college guests during the first days of the new spring semester. Though an ASK ME “assignment” is only for one hour, many volunteers generously donated their time and energy for multiple days and times. ASK ME volunteers also provided valuable support for the campus department employees who were busy providing face-to-face services or processing documents, for the GPC Facebook Team members who were answering online questions, and for the Contact Center associates who were addressing hundreds of phone calls.
