Emily Lipsey: Theatre major
Name: Emily Lipsey
Education: I’m a full time student in my third semester at Georgia Perimeter College. I am a theatre major taking classes at Clarkston Campus and online. I am a 2013 graduate of Archer High School in Lawrenceville.
Job: Part-time lifeguard.
Favorite thing about GPC: The small class sizes and the many opportunities. For example, I recently posed as a 1960s student as part of a publicity campaign for the college’s 50th anniversary. (see photo)
Plans to continue education: I plan to attend a four-year university beginning next fall. I am currently looking at Agnes Scott College and Marshall University. When I have completed my undergrad, I plan to go to graduate school at Louisiana State University and earn my master of fine arts in theatre.
Professional goals: To act and stage-manage in Atlanta theatre.
Personal goals: To fall more in love with Jesus every day and to make every day an adventure.
Hometown: My hometown is Baton Rouge, Louisiana, but I have lived in Gwinnett County for the past 16 years.
Favorite place: On stage. I love the energy I have while performing; I wouldn’t trade that feeling for anything else in the world.
Family: Mom, Dad (Craig Lipsey who works in card services at GPC), little brother and little sister.
Recently read: I am constantly reading plays; one of my new favorites is “Medea” by Euripides.
Favorite Book: “The Choice” by Nicholas Sparks.
Favorite movie(s): “(500) Days of Summer” and “Pitch Perfect.”
Most influential person in my life: My siblings. Every day I try to be as compassionate and loving as my sister and as determined and courageous as my brother. They are my heroes.
Leisure activities: Spending time with my family and friends, camping and reading.
Pet peeve: When people say “these ones.” These is plural; one is not.
