GPC tuition to increase 2.5 percent
Georgia Perimeter College is one of 27 University System of Georgia institutions that will see only a 2.5 increase in tuition for the 2014-15 academic year. Mandatory fees at GPC will remain the same.
On April 15, the University System of Georgia Board of Regents approved the 2.5 percent increase in tuition for undergraduates at 27 university system colleges and universities. Tuition increases for the state’s research universities range from 4 to 9 percent.
“We are very pleased that the Board of Regents chose to raise tuition for a full-time GPC student next year by only $32 a semester,” says Rob Watts, GPC’s interim president. “This keeps Georgia Perimeter College very affordable and one of the best values in higher education in the state.”
For an in-state, full-time student at Georgia Perimeter College, the 2.5 percent change means tuition will rise from $86.54 to $88.67 per credit hour—just $2.13. For a full-time student (taking 15 credit hours), the cost will increase $32 from $1,298 to $1,330 per semester.
“Tuition and fees in the University System continue to be an excellent value for students, but we are both mindful and sensitive to ensuring broad access to college,” said Chancellor Hank Huckaby. He noted that tuition and fees in Georgia fare well in comparisons to other states’ institutions. Of the 16 states of the Southern Regional Education Board, Georgia’s tuition and fees rank 10th among four-year and seventh among two-year institutions, he said.
