Remington Youngblood, a Forsyth County fifth-grader, knows how to show his support for his country’s military and veterans.

Youngblood, founder and president of Change 4 Georgia (C4G), recently presented Mark Eister, director of the Military Outreach Center at Georgia Perimeter College, with a check for $500. The money is to be used for the C4G Hero Scholarship for Student Veterans, which will help a GPC student who is in the military—or who is a veteran—pay college expenses. 

Remington founded Change 4 Georgia in 2011 as a community service program that allows students to thank soldiers for their service, dedication and sacrifice by collecting items that soldiers need or want. He presented the scholarship in late March. C4G also assists student veterans and their families with food, clothing, school supplies, furniture, appliances and personal items.

When C4G was collecting food, clothing and personal items for veteran families at GPC, Eister joined the effort, securing a carload of donations from Vetbuds, an organization that also assists veterans. Eister is a member of Vetbuds.
