Rasheeda Al-Badee, 23, wants to provide fellow Georgia Perimeter College students a gift they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

“What’s better than education?” asks Al-Badee, who graduated from GPC in December with a health and physical education associate degree and will graduate again in May with a degree in social work. She plans to enter the nursing program at Albany State University in the fall.

Though a student herself, Al-Badee has contributed to the Faculty/Staff Campaign since 2009, making donations from the work-study paychecks she receives for working at GPC.

“It’s not much, but I so strongly believe in giving back,” she explains.

“GPC changed my life; I went from not wanting to go to college to not wanting to miss a day of school. Every professor made me feel like they would be willing to go above and beyond to make sure I understood the material,” she says.

“The best gift is knowledge; coming here I received that gift tenfold. So I’m always happy to give as long as I know others are learning something. Giving to GPC is the perfect way to achieve that.”
